Our Clients Say

Clients praise Circlefoot Permaculture

“We’ve had terrific experiences with Diego and the entire crew at Circlefoot Permaculture and can’t recommend them highly enough. We first started working with them about two years ago after being frustrated by the failure of some of our plantings and trees, especially a redwood, to really take off in our San Mateo garden. After doing some fairly extensive research into local master gardeners, arborists and permaculture specialists, we thought that Circlefoot’s approach, credentials and customer reviews really made them stand out.”

JENNIFER L. • SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA
Clients praise Circlefoot Permaculture

“I wanted to work with a company that could deliver a landscape that harmonized with the existing ecosystem, conserved water, and was productive in addition to being beautiful (drought tolerant, emphasis on natives, edibles) – our new landscape from Circlefoot delivers 100% on what I wanted.”

SARAH W. • PORTOLA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA
Clients praise Circlefoot Permaculture

“It’s the responses I get from friends, neighbors and family that confirms that choosing Circlefoot to design our property in Menlo Park was a invaluable decision. From the beginning consultation to the final walk through it was filled with ease, flow and focused intention. Diego’s team treated the land as if it was their own with kindness, respect and consistent care.”

KELLIE B. • MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA
Clients praise Circlefoot Permaculture

“Diego and his team recently completed the landscaping of our front yard. They transformed what looked like an ugly stretch of the Baja into a magnificent garden environment.

The whole process was a wonderful experience. Diego first met with us to find out what we wanted in our garden. After a couple of days he returned with a proposal consisting of garden blueprints that identified the plant selection, where they would be placed, grey water recycling system, rain collection system, and detailed information on all the plants and why they were selected. He took our suggestions and made many suggestions of his own. The plans were detailed and clear so we knew exactly what were getting. The contract to do the work was specified in stages and they kept to their budget so we knew exactly what the costs would be.”

Did You Know These Landscape & Farm Facts?

  • The average 2,000 square foot lawn requires 10,000 gallons of water per month to maintain, the same amount of water in an average swimming pool!
  • Use of gas powered leaf blower or lawn mower for one hour creates as much air pollution as driving a car 100 miles.
  • Traditional home gardens and lawns use up to ten times more toxic chemicals per acre than commercial farming.
  • The greatest source of water pollution is street storm run-off; including fertilizers, pesticides, gasoline, oil and cigarette butts.
  • Water originating in our national forests provide drinking water for over 3400 communities, and approximately 60 million individuals.
  • An average American uses about 750 pounds of paper every year, and 95% of homes are built using wood. That means each person uses the equivalent of one 100 foot tall, 16 inch diameter, tree every year for their paper and wood product needs.
  • Sudden Oak Death is a virulent disease decimating our local native ecology. SOD is a saprophytic fungi called Phytophthora rumorum. It eats away the cambium layer of trees and can overcome a mature heritage oak in just a few years.
  • Integrated multi species forest systems can create higher more diverse yields than annual/perennial row cropping.
  • A Valley Oak has many benefits to a landscape and its occupants such as shade, wind protection, habitat, mulch, wood, medicine, food, fuel, beauty, erosion mitigation, and symbiosis with beneficial fungi.
  • One tablespoon of healthy soil contains 100 million – 1 billion individual beneficial bacteria.
  • All the soil microbes found in 1 ac/ft of soil weigh more than two average sized cows.
  • Healthy soil has amazing water retention capacity. Every 1% increase in organic matter results in as much as 25,000 gallons of available soil water per acre.
